Cabarete is located 15 minutes eastward of Sosua, on the northern coastline of the Dominican Republic. This small beach town, situated between a bay and a lagoon, is renowned for its youthful spirit. Its atmosphere is a colorful and casual blend of national folklore, international tourism, kitesurfing, adventure tourism, as well as enhanced by its youthful visitors and vibrant nightlife.

About Cabarete

Cabarete has come to be known as the kiteboarding capital of the Caribbean and one of the five top world-wide destinations to practice this sport at. The harmonious blending together of natural environment, wind and perfect waves make it the idyllic place for the practice of extreme sports. As this magical place serves as a hideaway to many visitors from every corner of the world, fun becomes the universal language spoken by all. Its waters have hosted several World Kiteboarding Cup championships, as well as holding the annual amateur world cup, known as the Cabarete Race Week.

For years Cabarete has had the distinctive honor of serving as headquarters of many World Circuit kitesurf and windsurf tour competitions, such as the PKRA and PWA circuits.

This Caribbean jewel has flourished to become the biggest and most important city of the northern coastline of the Dominican Republic. Founded in 1502, it is one of the major tourist attractions of the country.

It’s well-regarded as the Amber Coast. It adopted the name since the coast is covered by this vegetable fossil resin; the area takes pride in being one of the leading amber museums in the world, the Amber Museum of Puerto Plata.

Puerto Plata is embraced by a maritime promenade extending more than six kilometers long. San Felipe Fort and Fortress, the first to be built in the Americas and best preserved to date.

Puerto Plata is also famous for its rum; Brugal Rum Factory being its main distiller.
The Puerto Plata aerial tram is yet another major attraction of the city of amber. These aerial cable cars head toward the Isabel de Torres Mountains. Upon your arrival, your eyes will feast on an unrivalled garden possessing a variety of exotic flowers, beautiful plantations, shielded by the gorgeous natural backdrop and pleasing scent of the mountains. 

This adventure will take you to an altitude of around 1,000 meters; atop of exuberant vegetation where you will be have an unbelievable time sure to be come memorable. This aerial cable car is the only one in the Dominican Republic, was built in 1974. The Puerto Plata aerial tram and the Isabel de Torres Mountains form part of the Dominican pride.
